 What celebrations are celebrated in Ecuador?

The Yamor Festival

In Imbabura, Otavaleños celebrate the best popular festival, the Yamor, it is a cultural celebration described as "the happiest party in the friendliest city in the country", in which, year after year, devotion to the Virgin Mary of Monserrate is combined, linked with gratitude to Pacha Mama for the fertility of the land and for having made the harvests possible.


                           

Carnival
The Carnival Parties in Ecuador are celebrated throughout the country, with parades, floats full of flowers, fruits , games, banquets, dances and entertainment in general, with a lot of food. The Ecuadorian carnival is very cultural and is celebrated with water, carnival foam, talc or flour, to paint the face or any type of vegetable paint. The best known place for this celebration is the city of Guaranda.


5.  Mama Negra 

The Mama Negra Festival takes place in the town of Latacunga in Ecuador at the end of September and again during the week of November. The Black Mom is what oldest in the city. In the city ​​streets fill up to see a parade of legends characters handing out sweets of blessings and homemade sweets. The party was established when the Cotopaxi volcano broke out in 1742. the people of the region asked the Virgin of Mercy, patron saint of Cotopaxi, save Latacunga. When the city ​​escaped the wrath of the volcano, an annual celebration was established in his honor.

The Inti Raymi
The ritual serves to give thanks to the god Inti (Sun), for giving the energy that provides the harvest. It is perhaps the biggest and most important indigenous celebration in Ecuador. Inti Raymi consist of several weeks full of dance, music food, and spiritual rituals.

La batalla del Pichincha
The 24th May 1822 is a date etched in the heart of every proud Ecuadorian. It is the day that the battle of Pichincha took place on the slopes of the volcano above Quito. The day a famous victory would end centuries of Spanish occupation of the city, and mark a turning point in the independece of the country. Today, battle of Pichincha celebrations are held every year on 24th May in cities, towns, and villages across Ecuador. This public holiday remembers the soldiers who fought Ecuador's war of Independence.
